Last updated 2026. These terms apply to the Compassion in Action Portal operated by Better Life for Animals, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit.
You may use this portal to read published stories and to submit a story about an animal in your care. Please don't attempt to disrupt the site, upload harmful files, or access submissions that aren't yours.
Submissions are open to animal sanctuaries, rescues, and the people who care for their animals. You must be at least 18 years old and authorized to share the story, photos, and videos on your organization's behalf.
Everything you submit must be truthful and about a real animal in your care. Don't submit content that is misleading, unlawful, hateful, or that includes another person's private information without their permission. We may edit stories lightly for length, spelling, and clarity before publishing.
You keep ownership of everything you submit. By submitting, you confirm you own the media or have permission to share it, and you grant Better Life for Animals a non-exclusive, royalty-free license to use your story and media to promote the Compassion in Action Fund — on our website, social media, newsletter, and podcast — with credit to your sanctuary. You can ask us to remove your story at any time.
Submitting a story does not guarantee selection or funding. Stories are chosen at the sole discretion of Better Life for Animals, and award amounts vary by month and by available funds. Selected sanctuaries will be contacted by email before anything is published.
Donations made through this portal go to the Compassion in Action Fund, which Better Life for Animals uses to help more sanctuaries — through monthly grants to featured sanctuaries and rescues and the storytelling and outreach that supports them. Better Life for Animals administers the fund and decides how and when awards are distributed. Donations are generally non-refundable; if you believe a gift was made in error, email us and we'll do our best to help.
This portal is provided as-is. We work hard to keep it available and your drafts safe, but we can't guarantee uninterrupted service, and we aren't liable for lost content or indirect damages arising from your use of the site.
