Artificial Intelligence (AI) Policy

Better Life for Animals · Compassion in Action Fund

Better Life for Animals approaches artificial intelligence with care. We use these tools only when they help us do more for animals — and never in a way that replaces human judgment, honesty, or compassion.

Our commitments

  • Any use of AI will be to increase our organization's impact in advocacy, storytelling, and fostering positive change for animals.
  • AI research or created content will be evaluated and edited by a human before being published.
  • The use of AI images or videos will be carefully screened so as not to confuse audiences or detract from actual animal suffering, but to engage and incite thoughtful action. If satire or irony is used, intentions will be made clear in the appropriate place (the caption, etc.).

How this applies to the Compassion in Action Portal

The stories, photos, and videos shared by sanctuaries through this portal are real. We do not use AI to generate the stories or media that sanctuaries submit, and we will always keep the animal's own story at the center of everything we publish.

Where AI tools assist our work — for example, suggesting drafts of social media captions or helping organize submissions — everything is reviewed and approved by our team before it is shared, and the words and images always reflect what actually happened to the animal.
