Gertrude

Gertie is an approximately 800 pound farm pig whose remarkable story began when she jumped, or fell from a transport truck near Bend, Oregon. A sheriff found her in the road and brought her to the county animal facility, where she remained for nearly two years. Trying to find a safe home for Gertie, the sheriff reached out to Harmony Farm Sanctuary and they helped raise $1,900 for Gertie to be spayed, and the sheriff personally transported her to Oregon State University. The veterinary team told us she was the largest pig they had ever spayed! Wildlings Forest initially welcomed Gertie so she could recover, but it quickly became clear that she had found her forever home. Today, Gertie is gentle, trusting, endlessly curious, and one of the most beloved residents at our volunteer run sanctuary.
